Calligraphy Information
What
is the difference between Chinese, Korean and Japanese writing?
China's
neighboring countries of Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other Southeast Asian
countries have all made the Chinese calligraphic system part of their
own respective cultures. The Chinese writing system is still used in
Korean and Japan. That is why much of the artwork created by Green Dragon Arts
is just as appropriate in Korean or Japanese as it is in Chinese. Kanji in Japanese and Hanja in Korean are both
names for essentially the same system of writing as is used in China.
Both the Japanese and Koreans still use the Chinese system of writing
for their more formal or traditional documents. At
Green Dragon Arts we make no distinctions between the Chinese writing
system, Kanji and Hanja.
Japan
and Korea have since developed their own unique system of writing. For
Japan it is called Katakana and hiragana and for Korea it is called
Hangul.
Green Dragon Arts does not used these systems of writing.
What's
the difference between the catalog calligraphy and the custom calligraphy?
Catalog
calligraphy is a collection of Green Dragons most popular artwork. It
is designed so that our customers can look at our catalog and say, "Thats
the perfect one for me, or it can be used as a starting point for
the creation of a custom piece.
Custom
calligraphy is exactly what the name says. Our
customers decide exactly what they want: from the characters to the type
and color of the paper. We
at Green Dragon Arts will help every step of the way to ensure that the
final product is just right.
What
are the characters and the red symbol on the lower left hand corner
of the calligraphy artworks?
That is Tsai
Yung's signature and seal. Whether the artwork is stamped
or signed depends on the type of artwork ordered. If you
specifically want the artwork stamped or signed just let us know.
Will
the Chinese calligraphy artwork that I receive look exactly like
what is shown on the website?
No two
artworks are exactly the same. Each is a hand painted original
and created by Tsai Yung to order.
How
long does the order take to complete?
That depends
on the complexity of the order but we usually take 7-10 days from the
time of payment till the order is ready to ship. We use US priority shipping
which usually take 2-5 days to ship within the US. If you are in a hurry
